The Himalayan monal, Uttarakhand's official state bird, is a creature of higher ground, its iridescent plumage of green, blue and copper catching the light best when viewed from a slight elevation. The Monal Room takes its position from that same instinct, raised to the first floor so its verandah looks out from a vantage point a little above the everyday. It sits close to the entrance and front office, an easy convenience for young families finding their footing each morning. Tea on the verandah arrives with a view that climbs gently above the treeline, and evenings bring the kind of light that would do the monal's rainbow feathers justice. A double bed and a queen size bed make the room a comfortable fit for 3 close friends or a family travelling together, each guest finding their own perch within it.
